About Hakuba Valley
Hakuba is a skiing resort in Nagano Prefecture, in the Chubu district of Japan.
The region provides many fine eateries, close by to the Lodges, with most restaurants located in Hakuba Village. A row of pubs are and a selection of clubs can also be found in the Echoland area, a short taxi trip away.
For those seeking for activities other than skiing, Matsumoto Castle and Snow Monkey tours can also be organised.
Hakuba Alpen Resort Bus
The bus travels between the accommodation areas, Happo Bus terminal, Happo-one, Iwatake and Tsugaike.
The shuttle is free of charge.

Hakuba’s history
Matsumoto Castle
Matsumoto Castle is one of four castle designated as National Treasures of Japan the oldest castle donjon of which remains in Japan.
The 5 storey castle features unique architecture that does not exist anywhere else in Japan.
Easy access by train to Matsumoto Castle from Hakuba Station.
Zenkoji
Zenkoji is a Buddhist temple located in Nagano, Japan. It is main tourist spot in Nagano. Many flock there to watch the ordination rites of priests.
The temple was built in the 7th century. Nagano City established in 1897, was originally a town built around the temple.
From Hakuba take a bus to Nagano JR Station and take a town bus ride to Zenkoji .
Snow Monkeys
A visit to the snow monkeys is one of the highlights of a visit to Japan.
The Jigokudani snow monkey park was opened in 1964 and is one of the only places in the world to see monkeys bathing in hot springs in the wild.
The park is about 90 mins from Hakuba.
